Lenore Coleman, Pharm.D., CDE, FASHP
CEO, Chairman of the Board, & Co-founder
Lenore Coleman received her Bachelor of Arts from Revelle College, University of California, San Diego and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed an ASHP approved residency in Ambulatory Care at the USC School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Coleman has been a practicing pharmacist for over 28 years and has worked as a clinical pharmacist in Acute Care, Ambulatory Care, Long Term Care, and Community Pharmacy settings. Within each of these practices, Dr. Coleman has focused on the care and management of people with diabetes. Dr. Coleman was Chief of Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Services at the VA Sepulveda Medical Center. There she was responsible for the coordination of seven clinical pharmacists, four primary care residents and the Patient Ambulatory Care and Education (PACE) clinical pharmacy program.
Dr. Coleman holds the title of Associate Professor at the Xavier College of Pharmacy and Research Fellow at the Center of Excellence, Howard School of Pharmacy. A certified diabetes educator (CDE) of 10 years, Dr. Coleman provides education and training of “at risk” populations nationwide. In March 1996, Dr. Coleman became a Fellow of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists which represents sustained excellence in a practice area for more than 10 years.
A recognized expert in the areas of Diabetes, Cardiovascular risk-reduction as well as medication adherence, Dr. Coleman has numerous publications in many areas and presents at both national and international forums.
JAMES R. GAVIN III, M.D., Ph.D

James R. Gavin III, M.D., Ph.D., graduated from Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C., in 1966 with a degree in chemistry. He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Emory University in 1970 and his M.D. degree from Duke University School of Medicine in 1975.
Dr. Gavin is Clinical Professor of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA and Clinical Professor of Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine. He was president of the Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA from 2002-2004.
He served as senior scientific officer at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) from 1991-2002 and director of the HHMI-National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Program from 2000-2002.
Before joining the senior staff of HHMI, he was on faculty at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center as a professor of medicine and chief of the Diabetes Section, acting chief of the Section on Endocrinology, Metabolism and Hypertension, and William K. Warren Professor for Diabetes Studies. He previously served as Associate Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He was a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Public Health Service from 1971-73 and continues to serve as a reserve officer in the USPHS.
