The goal of Wellness on Demand™ is to improve the management of chronic diseases within primary care practice settings by educating patients and empowering them to assist their physicians in disease state management.

Multimedia Educational Workshops

Workshops will initially be provided in English, Spanish, and French.  Multimedia interactive Health Care Education Centers located in primary care physician offices and health care institutions.  An educational Internet site for viewing of consumer-oriented medical presentations via cable and web cast will be developed.  The interactive website will be programmed to deliver audio, video, text and animated content.

Topics to be covered:

Sugar Busters – Comprehensive Diabetes Education Program This program provides education and training for individuals with pre-diabetes (strong family history of diabetes with elevated blood sugars) and/or diabetes.   Participants are helped in developing their own individual management plan. Age: 12 and up.

Waiting to Exhale – Asthma Management Program- This program educates individuals to recognize the warning signs of asthma, and how to control it and prevent attacks, this program empowers individuals to make decisions about managing their asthma. Age: 8 and up. 
 
Lifestyle Choices and Changes 1 – Risk Factor Reduction Program.  The focus of this class is on the effects of unhealthy lifestyle behaviors, such as eating patterns leading to obesity, smoking and the lack of physical activity.  A review of the prevention and management of cholesterol and hypertension will be provided. Age: 12 and up. 

Lifestyle Choices and Changes 2 - Ten (10) week program focused on learning the advance information required to successfully change eating habits and daily routine to achieve and maintain significant weight loss. The course will cover how to read a food label, counting calories, meal planning, low fat/low calorie cooking demonstrations, grocery shopping tips, exercise demonstrations including resistance training and tips to coping with “stress” eating. In addition, every class will provide an opportunity to discuss personal barriers to weight management in a support group format. Age: 14 and up.

Prenatal Care - This program is designed to help the expectant mother learn how to properly care for herself and unborn child.  The following information is covered: anatomy and physiology.

Positive Living - HIV education
This program is for participants that are contemplating sexual activity or are currently sexually active.  The program will educate the participant on various high-risk sexual behaviors that lead to sexually transmitted diseases like HIV/AIDS.  The participant will understand the difference between HIV and AIDS, blood tests that are used to assess severity of the disease (CD4 and viral load), importance of taking mediations as prescribed, common drug interactions, how to reduce drug resistance, treatment of other infections and the goals of treatment.  Ages: 15+

“The Comfort Zone” – Healing from the inside out – A Behavioral Management Workshop
This workshop will give participants an overview and definition of depression, anger management and alcohol/substance abuse.  Through an interactive format, participants will learn to recognize the symptoms of and relationship between these three topics as well as effective coping strategies for daily living.  Ages: 15+
