In the news On June 14, 2007, Dr. Lenore T. Coleman was honored by American Legacy Magazine for her work in healthcare disparities. Over the years, Dr. Coleman has provided education and training to minority populations on disease self-management. She provides on-line information through www.blackandbrownsugar.com. With a focus on the faith base community, Dr. Coleman provides health screenings and workshops for many religious organizations including the National Baptist Convention and the Potter’s House (TD Jakes Megafest) through Total Lifestyle Change, Inc., her non-profit corporation (www.tlc-global.org). The American Legacy Multicultural Healthcare Awards honor outstanding healthcare professionals who lead, inspire, and effect important changes to help decrease the health disparities that threaten the well-being and lives of African-Americans. On the morning of the awards reception, Dr. Coleman participated in a Healthcare Forum panel discussion on The State of Black Health. During the panel discussion, Dr. Coleman provided insights on the importance of medication adherence in the management of chronic disease and the significant barriers within our healthcare system that affect people of color. http://www.americanlegacymag.com/legacyevents.shtml
